I started playing videogames around 5 years ago. The first PC game I played was Half-Life Deathmatch. The blood and gore of video games is not what attracted me to them. I had no idea that you could play versus people all around the country. I thought most video games were played against the computer, for example playing the different levels in Golden Eye or Donkey Kong. Today’s video games are very different, multi player action games are so much fun. I have made many great friends through this video game and the only regret I have is that I didn’t start playing it sooner. I started playing at an ex boyfriend’s house and haven’t stopped.. its been almost five years. After playing I would rush home from school and get on and this was before I knew anything about competitive counter-strike. Counter-Strike is a FPS, which means first person shooter. The object of the game is simple, either you are a counter-terrorist and your mission is to prevent terrorists from planting an explosive device or you are the terrorist so you have to plant and detonate a bomb. The concept of the game might seem quite simple but actually it is filled with stratedgy and mind games, not to mention the reaction time and skill it takes to win rounds.
The video above shows Counter-Strike 1.6 being played at one of the Largest videogame tournaments, CPL. I like this video because it shows the passion that goes into playing this game. Thousands of people watch these tournaments in person and at home all over the world.
